Prostate Cancer Treatments: Many Options
Prostate cancer treatment ranges from minimally-invasive (such as brachytherapy or cryotherapy) to major surgery (radical prostatectomy.)

In some cases, “watchful waiting” (keeping the cancer under close observation for signs of progression) may be best. However, watchful waiting may also eventually lead to the need for more invasive forms of prostate cancer treatment.

With the exception of some minimally invasive treatments, prostate cancer treatment is usually a "one shot" therapy. This means that a doctor can administer the prostate cancer treatment only once to stop or slow the cancer. It works-or it doesn't. Minimally invasive treatments, however, like brachytherapy and cryotherapy may be repeated in some cases.

The "best" prostate cancer treatment
The best prostate cancer treatment depends upon a man's age and general health, the stage of his prostate cancer, its location, and his personal decision.

The more you know about prostate cancer treatment options, the better prepared you will be to work with your doctor to choose the best prostate cancer treatment for you.
